2011 Title Recodifications

Recodification of Title 64.1, Wills and Decedent's Estates

Pursuant to § 30-152 of the Code of Virginia, the Virginia Code Commission voted to recodify Title 64.1, Wills and Decedents' Estates, as part of its 2010-2011 work plan. An advisory panel of practitioners experienced in this area assisted the Commission with this title recodification.

The Commission approved the report (2011, S.D. 15) on the recodification of Title 64.1 at its meeting on December 5, 2011. Senate Bill 115 was considered at the 2012 Session of the General Assembly and enacted as Chapter 614. In 2013, a corrections bill (Senate Bill 1052) was introduced and enacted as Chapter 784 to reinsert language that was inadvertently omitted from the 2012 recodification legislation.
